چکیده

Room-temperature thermoelectric power S has been systematically studied in a chain-free double-layer Y1-xCaxBa2Cu3O6. As a function of hole concentration per planer Cu atom (Ppl), S(Ppl) of Y1-xCaxBa2Cu3O6 (Ppl=x/2) behaves identically to that of single-layer La2-xSrxCuO4 (Ppl = x). We demonstrate the phase diagram for the double CuO2 layer YBa2Cu3Oy and Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy system as a function of the hole concentration determined by S(Ppl), and discuss the relation between the pseudogap property and the superconductivity on the common scale.

Strong coupling superconductivity, pseudogap, and Mott transition.

An intricate interplay between superconductivity, pseudogap, and Mott transition, either bandwidth driven or doping driven, occurs in materials. Layered organic conductors and cuprates offer two prime examples. We provide a unified perspective of this interplay in the two-dimensional Hubbard model within cellular dynamical mean-field theory on a 2×2 plaquette and using the continuous-time quant...

Dome-shaped magnetic order competing with high-temperature superconductivity at high pressures in FeSe

The coexistence and competition between superconductivity and electronic orders, such as spin or charge density waves, have been a central issue in high transition-temperature (Tc) superconductors. Unlike other iron-based superconductors, FeSe exhibits nematic ordering without magnetism whose relationship with its superconductivity remains unclear. Moreover, a pressure-induced fourfold increase...

Pseudogap phenomena in ultracold atomic Fermi gases

The pairing and superfluid phenomena in a two-component ultracold atomic Fermi gas is an analogue of Cooper pairing and superconductivity in an electron system, in particular, the high Tc superconductors. Owing to the various tunable parameters that have been made accessible experimentally in recent years, atomic Fermi gases can be explored as a prototype or quantum simulator of superconductors...

Scanning tunnelling microscopy imaging of symmetry-breaking structural distortion in the bismuth-based cuprate superconductors.

A complicating factor in unravelling the theory of high-temperature (high-T(c)) superconductivity is the presence of a 'pseudogap' in the density of states, the origin of which has been debated since its discovery. Some believe the pseudogap is a broken symmetry state distinct from superconductivity, whereas others believe it arises from short-range correlations without symmetry breaking. A num...

Quantum critical point for stripe order: An organizing principle of cuprate superconductivity

A spin density-wave quantum critical point (QCP) is the central organizing principle of organic, iron-pnictide, heavy-fermion and electron-doped cuprate superconductors. It accounts for the superconducting Tc dome, the non-Fermi-liquid resistivity, and the Fermi-surface reconstruction. Outside the magnetically ordered phase above the QCP, scattering and pairing decrease in parallel as the syste...
